Hmm..

..now I'm not one for conspiracy theories or anything and I'm really not sure how deeply I believe in greater powers out there and all that but the idea that Mother Nature is sending us warning signals is starting to fester in my mind I have to admit.

It's not every day you wake up and find a tsunami alert for your area but that was what we had this morning.  The massive earthquake in Chile has created a wave that pretty much crossed the Pacific Ocean this morning and while it was only one metre high by the time it reached the northern most part of New Zealand, and non-existent by the time it reached our coastline, it has to make you stop and think.

The earth is damn powerful and where we live there were plenty of people out on the beach waiting to witness this power.  How stupid can you get?

We live on the top of a ridge overlooking the sea, north of Auckland on the east coast of the north island of New Zealand, so we were safe as houses but I was slightly gobsmacked when I was scanning the point and saw a person walking around the rocks.

It just seems such an enormous disrespect for the force of nature and also for the thousands of people who have lost their lives in other tsunamis.  It isn't a fun day out people, you shouldn't be jumping in your boats and cramming the beaches with your flippers - have some bloody respect.

That was all really.

I reckon anyone dumb enough to go sight-seeing for tsunamis deserves to be removed from the gene pool.
